ARE CHIROPRACTORS SAFE?
Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.
HOW MUCH DOES A CHIROPRACTIC CARE COST?
Chiropractic treatment at our office costs varies depending on whether you have health insurance coverage or are “self pay”. We would be happy to verify your benefits if you do have insurance. If not, our self pay price is between $45-$60 per treatment. Most acute cases take between 4-6 treatments to resolve on average.
WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE YOUR OFFICE?
Our doctor, James Graham, DC, graduated with honors from Palmer College (considered the best by many) in 2003. He has many years experience treating patients of all ages and conditions. We utilize a combination of chiropractic adustments as well as physiotherapies (ultrasound, e-stim) and home exercise instructions to give you faster relief that lasts longer.
HOW CAN I FIND A CHIROPRACTOR NEAR ME?
The best way to find a good chiropractor near you is to look at reviews of chiropractors in your area or to ask friends who have seen a chiropractor for a referral.
CAN I GET CHIROPRACTIC CARE DURING PREGNANCY?
Yes, chiropractic care is safe during pregnancy. Due to the changes in your body, it is often necessary to change the “technique” that is used and we also have tables that drop down in the abdomen area for comfort when laying on your stomach.
WHAT TYPES OF PAIN DO CHIROPRACTORS TREAT?
Chiropractors treat many types of pain but the most common are neck pain, upper back pain, lower back pain, sciatica, headaches, as well as extremity pain.
ARE ALL PATIENTS ADJUSTED THE SAME WAY?
No, there are many different techniques that can be used to adjust a patient. Since we treat everyone from newborns to athletes to elderly, they all require a different approach to treatment.
WILL I BE REQUIRED TO REMOVE MY CLOTHING AT MY APPOINTMENT?
No, you will be fully clothed throughout your exam and treatment.
WHAT TYPE OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING DO CHIROPRACTORS HAVE?
Educational requirements for doctors of chiropractic are among the most stringent of any of the health care professions. The typical applicant for chiropractic college has already acquired nearly four years of pre-medical undergraduate college education, including courses in biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, psychology and related lab work. Once accepted into an accredited chiropractic college, the requirements become even more demanding — four to five academic years of professional study are the standard. Doctors of chiropractic are educated in orthopedics, neurology, physiology, human anatomy, clinical diagnosis including laboratory procedures, diagnostic imaging, exercise, nutrition rehabilitation and more. Because chiropractic care includes highly skilled manipulation/adjusting techniques, a significant portion of time is spent in clinical technique training to master these important manipulative procedures. In total, the chiropractic college curriculum includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical experience. The course of study is approved by the Council on Chiropractic Education, an accrediting agency that is fully recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
